Taunts 51-65 are pre-recorded Defeat taunts.
Taunts 66-80 are pre-recored Victory taunts.
All taunts may be overridden by the user by placing
replacement taunts in the
taunts folder in the root of the Turok2 directory.
Up to 10,000 taunts may be recorded per character voice
using the following
rules:
1) The prerecorded taunt must be in *.WAV format. The
wave file can be of any
bit depth, frequency, and can be either stereo or mono.
However, it is preferable to reduce the size of the wave
files as much as
possible, since they are loaded as needed during game
play.
Wave files can be reduced in size by reducing the bit
depth (eg. 8-bit sound
vs. 16-bit sound), by reducing the frequency (eg. 11Khz
vs. 22Khz, or 44Khz),
and by saving them in mono rather than stereo.
2) The prerecorded taunt must reside in the taunts
directory with the following
naming convention:
a) the wave file must be in the 8.3 file name format.
b) the first 4 characters of the taunt name must consist
of a prefix
indicating character (see below for valid prefixes).
c) last 4 characters of the taunt name must be a 4 digit
number
indicating the taunt number desired.
This is also the number used in the game to activate (play
back)
the taunt (leading zeros must pad numbers less than 1000,
eg. 0001
for #1, 0340 for #340, 0099 for #99, etc.)
d) the extension of the file must be .WAV.
File names are not case sensitive.
Below are the valid taunt name prefixes (and the
character(s) they belong to):
adon - Adon's voice
camp - Campaigner's voice
dino - Fireborn's voice
flsh - Flesheater's voice
gant - Gant's voice
prln - Purrlin's voice
tlst - Talset's voice
rapt - Raptor's voice
turk - turok's and Iggy's voice
Examples of named taunt files:
turk0034.wav - replaces the standard taunt for
Turok #34 (Oh I lived? Wow!)
rapt0150.wav - creates a new taunt number 150
tlst9999.wav - creates a new taunt number 9999
camp0001.wav - replaces the standard taunt for Campaigner
#1 (Aaah!)
Keep in mind that all the player's in the game must have
the same WAV files in
order to hear the same taunts! Taunts located in your
local taunts folder are
ONLY played on your machine.
In addition to the taunts, two sound files (flagcapture1.wav
and
flagcapture2.wav) are provided. These are the tunes that
are played when a
flag is captured in a capture the flag game. You can
change the tunes by
simply replacing the WAV files with the same file name (you
may want to back
up the originals first).
Note: Turok2 will not recognize any wave files containing
non-sound padded data (most sound recorders usually do
not save non-sound data by default).
